CHILDREN’S COSTUME PARADE AND PARTY HALLOWEEN 2006

With the support of the Placencia Humane Society
For the 5th consecutive year, a Halloween Costume Parade and Party for
the children of the peninsula took place. This year it was presented by
the Placencia Women’s Group, working closely with the Placencia Humane
Society, who had presented this event for the past 4 years. The Women’s
Group put a grand celebration together for the community.
This is a very popular event for the children ( of all ages) on the
peninsula and, as before, businesses and private individuals joined with
the Placencia Women’s Group to financially support this event. And once
again every one responded to the call for support, either with funds for
the expenses or by volunteering their time and talents to make sure the
parade and party was a success and memorable day for everyone – and
indeed this year was no exception.
This time the judging was done at the community center and the colorful
parade began at Scotia Bank and marched to the Basketball Court where
the participants congregated and waited for the judges decision.
At the Basketball Court, MC Principal Rodney Griffith open the
proceeding by the singing of the National Anthem followed by a word of
prayer by Mr. Edward Timmy Eiley. Spectators were treated to an
extravaganza of color and costumes – everyone deserved to win a prize.
It was a difficult but fun task for the judges and big Thank you to Mr.
Steve Wade, Mr. Graham Cabral, Ms. Jackie Roe, Ms. Eugene Gabourel and
Ms. Marcia Fox for a job well done. In each category there were three
prizes 1st prize of $100.00, 2nd prize of $50.00 and third prize of
$25.00. The winners are as follows.
Age Group 1-4 years
1st Prize - Leandra Lemus, 2nd Prize – Janah Leslie &
3rd Prize – Victor Zabaneh.
Age Group 5-6 years
1st Prize – Jahvre Googher, 2nd Prize – Zazie McKenzie &
3rd Prize – Keneemah Rowland
Age Group 7-8 years
1st Prize – Tessa Eiley, 2nd Prize – Dominic Rotier, &
3rd Prize – Ciara Vernon
Age Group 9-10 years
1st Prize – Darryn Eiley, 2nd Prize – Jenna Godfrey, &
3rd Prize – Andrea Chirinos
Age Group 11-13 years
1st Prize – Marco Supaul, 2nd Prize – Kylon Eiley, &
3rd Prize – Minette Whylie
The winners were given gift certificates to be taken to Atlantic Bank
where the funds will be deposited into and account in each winners name.
The Queen of The Bay, Placencia, Miss Kenesha Burgess presented the
certificates. After the judging all the kids were treated to snacks and
drinks provided by the Women’s group.
This year the Women’s Group was supported by a number of local
organizations, not the lease of which was the Placencia Humane Society.
