It All about Placencia Lobsterfest

Placencia Lobsterfest is just weeks away and promises to be the best ever. For the first time the festival will be headed out to the beautiful beach that is Placencia’s claim to fame. The main Lobsterfest site will be located on the open expanse of beach between Cozy Corner/Evan’s Place and the Tipsy Tuna/Barefoot Beach Bar which will allow plenty of room for the different games and activities being added to this year’s festival not no mention all the booths that will have delicious lobster dishes, extraordinary arts and crafts and informative displays.

All events will take place at the main site with the exception of the 8th annual Placencia Fishermen’s Day Fishing Tournament morning starts and weigh ins. These events alone will take place at the Main Dock - at the Placencia Fishermen’s Cooperative. The Rotary Club of Placencia will have an auxiliary bar at the Weigh In site for all those thirsty fishermen and fisherwomen and all the spectators that come to watch the weigh in. Weigh in on Day One , Saturday June 24th, will be from 4 - 6 pm. Weigh in on Day Two , Sunday June 25th, will be from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. with the traditional Blessing of the Boats and Boat Parade to follow. We strongly encourage all boats to be a part of the boat parade, which will circle around the point to the main Lobsterfest site - weather permitting.

Get ready to kick off your shoes and get “Placencia Barefoot Perfect” for the fun filled dances Friday night with Gilharry 7 sponsored by the Belize Tourism Board, Saturday with another night of Gilharry 7 sponsored by MNM Hardware & Service Station Placencia and Sunday night jump up with DJ TUCA.

All The Lobsters Will Be There!!! You Should Be Too!!!

The Purple Space Monkey

The Purple Space Monkey, destroyed by fire on May 7, was a vibrant member of the local business community drawing guests from all over the globe as its reputation became known through reviews in guide books, on the internet and by word of mouth.
Owners Jake Roberts and Brad Turton first visited Placencia in May of 1999. They identified a need for internet service and great coffee and returned that summer to start their business..
