Placencia Lobsterfest 2007 The 10th annual Placencia Lobsterfest is said by many to be the best ever. For a change the weather cooperated and it was beautiful and sunny all weekend long. The crowds were treated to the largest variety of lobster dishes the festival has ever seen. The incredible daytime sounds of the All Star Steel Band and Inner Vibrations - both crowd favorites, and great nighttime parties with the Griga Boyz Friday night, Gilharry 7 Saturday night, and as a surprise again Sunday night made the fest “jump” from start to finish.Reagan International sponsored the first Placencia Lobsterfest Children’s Olympics complete with an opening ceremony presided over by Johnny Bricenio and including a ribbon cutting to officially open the games. Other events throughout the weekend included the Placencia Fishermen’s Day Saltwater Fishing Tournament Placencia Lobsterfest Kayak Challenge , the Rotary Club of Placencia Rubber Duck Race and the ever popular Placencia BTIA Lobsterfest Raffle. CONTINUE>>>>> First Ever Monkey River Village Festival Monkey River Village in Toledo will be hold its first ever Village Festival on Saturday August 18th, under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor General, Sir Colville Young. The day will be packed with exciting events, including a Fishing Tournament with over $7000 in cash prizes. Each competitor will receive a free gift. There will be a football marathon featuring some of Belize’s top teams, with $1750 in cash prizes.Throughout the day there will be traditional games for adults and children including greasy pole, watermelon eating, lime and spoon, tug of war, three legged race, needle and thread and sack race, with prizes galore. A special feature will be face painting for children, and later in the day the face painting team will be offering decorative body painting for ladies who want to look glamorous for the evening dance.
