It’s The Law!!!
To help understand Belize laws regarding the use of nets to catch fish, the following is quoted from the Belize Fisheries Act, Chapter 210, Revised Edition 2003, showing the Subsidary Laws as at 31st October, 2003.
"15. (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this regulation, no person shall take any fish in the waters of Belize with a net constructed of a natural or artifical fiber the mesh size of which is less than three inches."
"17. No beach seine, trap, weir, or stop net shall be set, hauled or otherwise used for the purpose of taking fish at any place situated within a distance of half a mile from any city, township, village, settlement or other inhabited locality in Belize."
