Lydia's Guesthouse
Lydia's Guest House was started in 1990 by Mr. Conrad Villanueva, who named the accommodation after his wife Lydia. Mr. Villanueva was a local fisherman and tour guide, who saw the need for a small guesthouse. Both of them managed the Guesthouse until Mr. Villanueva passed away in March 1998. Since then Lydia has been managing the Guesthouse.
Situated in the north residential area of Placencia Village and located right off Placencia’s famous sidewalk and just steps away from the beautiful beach and a ten minute walk to the dock, banks and grocery store. The Guesthouse is a two-storey building with eight rooms. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable with fans, hot/cold shared bath (four rooms to two bathrooms), and refrigerator. The guesthouse has a great view of the Caribbean just few steps away.
Lydia is a delight, full of hospitality and hard work. Lydia cares about the quality of each guest’s vacation and strives to provide a pleasurable, relaxing and affordable stay in Belize. She has been involved in tourism in the village and served on the local village council. Her laughter is contagious and she is a prime example of genuine Belizean hospitality.
Lydia is always seeking to improve her property and in 2005, Lydia's Guesthouse participated in an Environmental Walk-Through program and with the support of The Belize Hotel Association and Conservation International, adopted a set of good practices to improve their overall performance in sustainability. These good practices include recycling policies, sustainable waste-water treatments, buying local products, and efficient use of energy.
Since 2005, Lydia’s Guesthouse has seen a significant cost reduction specifically in electricity, water and laundry supplies.
Majority of our guest are enthusiastic about the environmental practices and it’s one of their main reason for staying at Lydia’s Guesthouse and they adhere to our signs for electricity, water and towel uses. Lydia’s Guesthouse is also well known for our great Belizean Hospitality.
