Preventing Lower Back Pain
To prevent lower back pain you need a strong core, flexible hamstrings, and good work out techniques. With exercise and proper strengthening of the back muscles and the abdominal muscles that support the back, back pain can be reduced.
Remember though that even the strongest mid-section cannot shield your lower back from injury when working out with bad form. Isometric holds are the best way to strengthen your lower back. Think about it, your back needs support 16 hours a day, back endurance is much more important than brute strength.
"The Best Lower Back Exercise" SUPERMAN'S
Lay on your stomach, hold your feet and arms 2-3" off the ground. Have someone watch your technique, or look in a mirror- make sure your feet and hands are equal distance off the ground. The goal: right when waking up try to hold this position with good form for 1 minute. If you cannot do a whole minute, do it every morning until you can. Once you can hold for one minute, cut back to twice a week.
Bottom Line: Lower back endurance is better than lower back strength. Doing this routine when you first wake up will help to minimize lower back pain.
