Every week at 9 am people from all over gather on the lawns outside Spectarte Gallery to pitch their tents or rent a table and prepare for the social gathering that has become the highlight of the week for many folks in the area.

What started as a spark of an idea has turned into an event that should not be missed if you are looking for bargains and a fun place to spend a few hours ,have a bite to eat - BBQ, quiche, sushi and catch up on local news and views. You do not have to book ahead which is what makes it always a serendipity day.

There are regular vendors selling organic vegetables, plants, designer clothes, jewelery, glorious junk and the like but artists show up, musicians appear and who knows what will happen next. Uncle Harry from Dangriga has a constant supply of amazing STUFF and as people come and go household items area always going for a song.

This promises to be year-round EVERY Sunday and constantly expanding. We encourage more vendors to join and everyone to spread the word. One can get a massage, tech help, buy a compressor, fishing gear, garden furniture, soil, a silly hat or a loaf of bread. We could expound but the best way to find out about this market is just drop in and see what’s up, as it continually changes.

You can come on our newly paved road or by boat along the lagoon and turn in at the Spectarte canal or even the old ferry landing which is but yards away. The Gallery in itself is a worthwhile visit and promotes Belizean Art and learning workshops. Across the road is Green Parrot and Maya Breeze, Wendy now has Mangoes , Jaguar Lanes has bowling and various bars and restaurants are within walking distance. So a lot can happen in Maya Beach on a Sunday if you plan on an enjoyable outing.
