What is New with GST?
On April 1, 2010 there were changes made to the GST (General Sales Tax) – The Placencia Breeze put together some quick facts that may be of help to you.
The new GST fraction is one-ninth (1/9) i.e. r/(100 + r), where r =rate=(12.5). When you are trying to figure out the GST of an item you can divide it by 1.125. For example if the total cost of an item is $150 including tax = 150/1.125 = $133.33 for the item w/ s tax of $16.66.
