A New Preschool for Placencia...The Placencia Preschool Parents Association, together with the Ministry of Education and St John’s Memorial Primary School, has decided that a new preschool is needed by September 2009.
This new quality, government supported preschool will provide space for up to forty children between the age of three and four.
As the reader probably knows, the present preschool is housed in our condemned community center. The space is shared with a monthly veterinary clinic and various village meetings. There are leaks in the ceiling, only a fraction of the fans work and the toilet is barely functional. Many parents don't send their children because of the insufficient infrastructure. It is not clean and there is no fenced outdoor play area. The present location is absolutely unacceptable.
Our children deserve a beautiful and safe school, devoted only to them and providing a high educational level. The preschool has to prepare them properly for their next educational step, the primary school.
As you can clearly see we are on a very tight fundraising and construction schedule. The Placencia Preschool Parents Association took the full responsibility to raise the funds for this challenging project. Look out for our Fundraising events- we have a Raffle at the end of May, a Fathers' Day Dinner Sale and Raffle and we will have a booth at Lobsterfest !! We also have an account with Scotia Bank where you can make a direct deposit.
