The Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Dionne Chamberlain-Miranda, BTIA President, has been designated as President of the Federation of Chambers of Tourism of Central America (FEDECATUR) at a meeting held in Panama City on April 1st, 2009.
FEDECATUR is a non-political, private-sector organization comprised of the tourism associations of Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, with the vision of working united with common objectives of peace, integration, development and business. The FEDECATUR Presidency is rotated among the seven Central American countries, and was passed to BTIA's President from Mr. Jaime Campuzano of Panama's Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR).
As President, Mrs. Miranda has pledged her commitment to the ongoing efforts of regional integration in the tourism industry for the benefit of Central American tourism marketing and development. Belize has in recent years become more actively involved with regional promotional and institutional strengthening initiatives, through the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Tourism, the BTB and the BTIA.
As a member of FEDECATUR, BTIA has participated in numerous projects including Rural Sustainable Tourism projects, Regional Promotional Projects, Intra-Regional Tourism Planning Projects, and Training programs and Workshops.
